More work for May Day

In addition to finishing up my 16 new painting/collages for the May Day Slaughterhaus Rose Show, I am now working on a video collage which will play over a 30 minute DJ set by Dubh Ros. Tons of ideas and material to be cut and pasted, edited, re-cut, etc. Brad Strain knows what I mean. The last collaboration was the epic 9 minute "Binary Code", one paragraph of text traslated into the language of the machines and played out one beep at a time. Somewhere along the way I came to love that madness. Hmm, perhaps another time.

This go around should be just as much fun; I already have some great footage that I hope you all come out to see.

City Market

Take a day, an ordinary day, an incessant drizzle on your head, right shoe soaking up puddles every time it hits pavement and a rock in the left. Mumbling about the bills on the counter, wondering for the 5th time if I locked the door, the 2 shows in Europe that will be affected by the drift of ash from Iceland, these are the ramblings that accompany my walk down the hill. But inevitably, joy is found in the form of the ever changing display boards of the City Market.

May Day

Just a little over two weeks until the Slaughterhaus Rose show and still working on my 18 pieces. Bits of paper drift across my floor with every draft rattling the windows. The Queen of Spades came together magnificently in the end leaving only Jack of Diamonds and the King of Clubs reluctant to come out and play. I know you're dying for a preview but you'll just have to come to the show.

They're gonna put me in the movies...

...well, my newest piece and a photo of my studio anyway. It's all part of an ongoing series of short videos by Scared of Genere featuring artists and galleries in the Seattle area; this video features the work of Lanae Rivers-Woods, Jim Pirie, & David Hodge. You can check it out at Art Access or on the La Familia Gallery website.

I didn't learn to read until I was in the 1st grade. I don't really know why, I just didn't feel like it. Then once I started...my mom always said the house could burn down around me if I had a book open. I guess my point is "better late than never".
