Hi & Low
For Veteran's Day I thought I would show you two pieces from my recent series of Playing Cards, in this case the two Jokers. As you remember, each of the face cards were based on traditional figures from history and mythology.
The two Jokers are redrawn and painted WW II G.I.s created by Bill Mauldin named Joe and Willie. You can view a gallery of his fantastic work here.
The joke here is the Low joker. David Low was a cartoonist working during the same time period.
And now a few messages for our friends behind the lines:
The light bill is overdue.
Au vent mauvais qui m'emporte deçà, delà,pareil à la feuille morte.
